The Danish coffee table at your home

„Sønderjysk Kaffebord“

What makes each country unique are its traditions and customs. In Denmark, for example, hygge, the Danish royal family or celebrations such as Fastelavn, which is similar to the German carnival, have a special meaning. A somewhat unusual tradition is the South Jutland coffee table, or „Sønderjysk Kaffebord“ as it is called in Danish. A cake buffet that has its origins in the 19th century and is especially popular in the south of Denmark.

The traditional Danish coffee table includes at least 21 different cakes. Yes, that’s right, 21! In comparison, the German coffee tables on birthdays or Sunday coffees seem a bit sparse. But you don’t need 21 cakes for a successful day. A good mood, hygge and a nice time together are enough.
